Disney Cracks Down on Strollers and Wagons in their Parks -- Here's How Babwearing Can Help
Disney theme parks have had regulations about bringing strollers and wagons into their parks for a while now, but starting May 1st 2019, they are tightening up these regulations even further.
New Regulations
Previously, you were allowed to bring strollers up to 36" (92cm) wide and 52" (132cm) long into the theme parks. Wagons were not permitted in any of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks but you could use a stroller wagon such as Keenz or Veer.
As of May 1st, no wagons in any form will be allowed in the Disney Parks. Stroller size is more restricted now as well. The size limit has been reduced to 31" (79cm) wide and 52" (132cm) long. The permitted length remains unchanged, but you are now more limited in which side-by-side double strollers will be allowed into the parks.
Additionally, Disney does not allow guests to lock their strollers onto any park property, so strollers become susceptible to theft if you leave them unattended while you go on rides with your family.
These new rules leave many families travelling to Disney with young children feeling stuck, because their double strollers may not be allowed into the parks once these new regulations take effect.
Babywearing at Disney Theme Parks
Fortunately, babywearing can help you get the most out of your Disney trip and enjoy the day with your little ones.
It may not be practical to spend the day at the parks without a stroller, if only to hold all your stuff, but bringing a carrier as well can help you make the most of your trip, while following the new stroller regulations.
Bring a Baby Carrier and a Single Stroller
Instead of leaving your strollers at home altogether, families with babies and toddlers can bring a baby carrier and a single stroller, instead of a double if theirs is too wide.
You can wear your baby in the carrier and have your toddler sit in the stroller, or have them alternate between the two.
You can add a wheeled board to your stroller, so you toddler can take turns standing and sitting and your baby can switch between the carrier and the stroller.
Babywearing Can Help Keep Your Baby Happy
Using a baby carrier for you little one lets you keep him happy, while enjoying the day with your older children.
You can nurse or bottle feed your baby in a carrier while walking between attractions, to avoid making extra stops along the way.
Avert tantrums, ward off overstimulation and easily get your baby down for her nap by using a baby carrier to keep her snuggled close, while you navigate the crowds.
Babywearing in the Sun Safety Tips
Babywearing can get hot, especially while you're walking around in the sun.
Find shady spots to rest, stay hydrated and don't forget a hat for you baby.
Dress for the weather. Babies overheat easily, so dress your baby in only as many layers as you're wearing. Remember, the baby carrier counts as a layer.
